It all started at the end of the 1940s, Mrs. Josefina Baldoni had the idea of building a chapel in the Campestre neighborhood, by vote, the neighborhood chose São Judas Tadeu as the patron saint of the new chapel.
The cornerstone of the chapel was laid on 10/29/1950, with the image of Saint Jude donated by the Unti family, which remains in the parish to this day.
On December 8, 1956, the then chapel was elevated to the category of parish, so the chapel that was previously administered by the friars of the Santo Antônio parish, received its first parish priest, our late Monsignor João do Rego Cavalcanti. Events to raise funds soon began, such as raffles (which often included a jar of marmalade, pigeons, pigs, etc.) and fairs.
Thus, on September 14, 1958, Monsignor Cavalcanti celebrated the first mass in the new Church. In 1959, work on the presbytery and towers was completed. In this year, the parish also received the first relic of Saint Jude, as well as the image of the Dead Christ.
At the beginning of the 1960s, after Sunday masses, young people from the parish next to Monsignor Cavalcanti, dug behind the Church to build the Church's first court, so in 1953 the Parish Sports Association was founded, which came to compete in the 3rd division of the futsal championship.
In 1963, our late Father Heitor de Carli arrived at the parish as coadjutor, remaining with us until 2012, when he went into the arms of the Father. In 1972, the inauguration of the Parish Hall took place. In 1982, Dom Cláudio Hummes entrusted our parish, the Menino de Jesus de Praga chapel, today a parish in Diadema.
In 1984, 1995 and 1996, Dona Maria Baldoni, Monsignor Cavalcanti and Dona Rosinha Baldoni died, respectively.
Time passed and in 2002 Father Luís arrived at the parish, still as Deacon, who remained with us until 2007, when Father Odelardo arrived to help care for Father Heitor, already weakened. In 2012, Father Heitor goes into the embrace of the Father, thus staying Father Odelardo with us until 2017, when Father Ademir and Father José Ailton arrive in our parish. In 2019, Friar Telles took over from Father José as parish vicar.
During this time, some parish renovations were also completed, such as the construction of Praça Mãe Rainha, as well as the new wake.
We tried to summarize a little the history of our parish, which for more than 60 years has been the place where many people meet God, and come to ask thanks to our Patron Saint Judas Tadeu.
